Mrs. Brashers' 2nd Grade Class
Hello! Welcome to 2nd Grade! My name is Amy Brashers. I am so happy to have your child in my class. I am looking forward to a wonderful year.
I graduated from PN-G High School in 1997 and went to Lamar University. In 2002, I graduated from Lamar with a degree in Education and a specialty in Math. I taught 4th grade in Orange for one year before I came to Van Buren. This is my 19th year at Van Buren. I taught 3rd grade for 7 years, and this is my 12th year in 2nd grade.
I am married and have two step-daughters and 3 sons. My husband, Kevin, and I will be married for 20 years in March. He works for Newtron in Nederland. My step-daughter, Courtney, is 29 and is a cardiovascular radiologic technologist at St. Elizabeth Cath Lab. She is married to my son-in-law, Josh, and they will have their first baby in November! My step-daughter, Shelby, is 27 and teaches 5th grade at Groves Elementary. She is getting married in February to my future son-in-law, Brenden. My son, Brady, is in 11th grade, and my son, Blake, is in 9th grade. They are both at PNG High School. My youngest son, Braxton, is in first grade here at Van Buren. They all LOVE sports and keep us so busy in the evenings and on the weekends.
I look forward to getting to know you and your family as the year progresses.

Please do not label your child's school supplies. If possible, please bring all supplies to Meet the Teacher at your scheduled time. I can't wait to see you all!

2. Survivor is my favorite show on T.V. (I wish I was brave enough to audition, but I'm not.)
3. I love anything and everything that has to do with Junie B. Jones.
4. Rookie of the Year is my favorite movie.
5. I'm scared of roller coasters and carnival rides.
6. I was an Indianette in high school.
7. Mrs. Ancelet, the 1st grade teacher, is my cousin. I LOVE HER!
8. Ms. Brashers at Groves Elementary is my step-daughter. SHE'S THE BEST!
9. Jose Altuve is my favorite baseball player.

♦HOMEWORK♦
Your child will have homework every Monday through Thursday night. Please check their homework each night, and have them correct any mistakes. They must have their homework the following day, signed by a parent, or they will miss recess and write lines.
