Welcome to the Counselor's Corner. My name is Tracie Kotz and I am the School Counselor at Port Neches Elementary. My goals as the School Counselor are to advocate and develop an authentic, trusting relationship with ALL the students at PNE. I am at PNE each day to nurture, protect, help modify behavior, and give assistance when needed. My message to ALL the students is that I am here to help them solve problems and help them become the best version of themselves. I want ALL students to feel unconditional acceptance at PNE.On our campus, I continue lessons covering the 6 pillars of Character Counts that were introduced at the K-3 campuses. Our school is divided into tribes, with each tribe representing its own character trait and we celebrate a different tribe each 6 weeks. It is so important to scaffold these lessons and continue learning about these character traits to positively impact our schools and our community.
I also focus on Social Emotional Learning. SEL is the process of developing the self awareness, self control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. Students with strong social emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially. From effective problem solving to self discipline, from impulse control to emotion management and more.
