Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Celia Collins and I will be teaching 4th Grade Reading here at Groves Elementary. I am beyond excited for this upcoming school year! Progress is key in my room, therefore, each and every student will make a Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound (SMART) reading goal(s) at the beginning of the year, and I am determined for each of those students to excel at those goal(s) by the end of the year.
I graduated from PN-G Highschool in 2008 and I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science degree from Lamar University in December of 2014. I worked in the environmental sector until October of 2017. I attended the Region 5 Education Service Center's Teacher Certification Program to recieve my teaching certificate. My student teaching was completed in May of 2018 at Van Buren Elementary (first grade) in Groves, TX.
I am looking forward to embarking on my first year of teaching and decided to go Harry Potter themed for my classroom. Depending on the class period your child is assigned will determine what "house" they will be assigned. If you're not familiar with Harry Potter, there are four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. I have four periods this year so it works our perfectly! :) There will be a positive incentive for good behavior, grades, etc. regarding each house. I have a House Points bulletin board where points will be added/deducted etc. for each house. The class with the most points at the end of a specific time period will receive a positive incentive. After the incentive takes place, the points will be erased, and a clean slate is started for the next positive incentive!
I am here for you and your child, feel free to contact me for questions and concerns regarding your child's progress in my class. I can be reached via email at email@example.com, work phone: (409) 962-1531 Ext. 6126, and Remind101: @c3c2kd.
Looking forward to a MAGICAL year!!!
