Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Tricia Sandell
My name is Tricia Sandell and I am a third grade teacher here at Van Buren Elementary. I have been teaching for 26 years and totally LOVE what I do. I started out teaching fourth grade for three years at Tyrrell Elementary in Port Arthur before moving to Highland Park Elementary in Nederland. While there for 19 years, I taught second and third grade, as well held the position of Assistant Principal.
A few things you probably don't know about me is that I grew up in Groves. I actually attended Van Buren when I was little, and then went on to Groves E, GMS, and finally PNG High School. After graduation in 1991, I attended Lamar University and received a B.S. in Education. I even did my student teaching with Mrs. Patsy Edmonds here at Van Buren. In the year 2000, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar.
I am married to Don Sandell and have three children, Landon-21 Tate-17, and Brinkley Kathryn-14. We also have a dog named Bella Claire.
It is my job to make a positive impact on each and every child in my classroom . Sometimes I feel that I am the brightest part of his/her day, and it is up to me to make a difference! Although this year will be a bit challenging due to the virus, I promise to do my best to keep your child safe while learning at the same time. One of my favorite quotes is, "It takes a village," and this year that couldn't be more true.
I'm so excited for this year to begin so that we may have some sense of normalcy. We will cross each bridge as it comes and strive for success together.
