Classroom Procedures
BEGINNING CLASS:
To begin class each day students get their supplies from their backpack, turn off their phone and place it in the calculator pouch and then will place the backpack at the side of the room. The student will then sit in their seat upon entering class.
CELL PHONES:
CELL PHONE POLICY:
1. ALL PURSES, BACKPACKS AND OTHER BAGS WILL BE DEPOSITED AT THE SIDE OF THE ROOM WITH PHONES IN CALCULATOR POUCH. NO EXCEPTION.
2. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE IS IN THE CALCULATOR POUCH AND IS OFF.
LEAVING THE ROOM:
Do not ask to leave. You must take care of your personal business during class change. But if you should have an emergency, you will have a restroom ticket. The ticket is good for six restroom trips for the year.
***If you have health or medical issues get a note from the school nurse.
LATE WORK:
Not a good thing. All assignments are due at the beginning of the class period unless the teacher has stated otherwise. Sometimes the problem solving can be confusing. If you are having difficulty, let me know. If your work is late, it is an automatic minus thirty points. If you have extenuating circumstances, you must see me before the class meets. That means the day before or the morning before school starts, not before the tardy bell rings for the class period it is due. You know when you get up in the morning if you have a problem.
MAKEUP WORK:
You are responsible for the makeup work. If you are absent, check the missing work folder in the classroom for your assignments and homework. You only have the amount of school days to get it done before the late charge begins. If you are absent for a school activity you must get your assignments ahead of time, as per your student handbook. You do not get three days as if you were ill for a school absence because you are considered to be in school, which is why it is excused and does not count against your attendance. It is imperative for you to do this in order to maintain your success.
READING:
Students are expected to read. At this level, students are expected to read. Reading quizzes will be given on occasion to encourage completion of the reading assignments.
LAB ACTIVITIES:
Labs must be written up in the correct format in order to participate in lab. If the lab is previously assigned it must be ready at lab time. If it is not ready the student must finish the write up and if there is not enough time for them to do the lab then they must come during the regular tutorial day to do the lab.
SPEAKING IN CLASS:
Students will raise their hands to be recognized and not interrupt others when they are talking. Please give the person speaking your full attention.
BOARDWORK:
Students will work problems on the board or overhead on a regular basis.
TUTORING:
I am here before and after school at least 30 minutes most days.
HAVING PHUN:
Plan on it!
