    Assignment Due Dates

This is a calendar that shows due dates for all assignments in this class. This calendar is subject to change, and is updated frequently. Please check it often to make sure you have the most up to date information.

  • This year my classes will be participating in a 20 book challenge! The goal is for all students to read 20 books by the end of the year. This will not be a grade in itself, but several grades will come from this challenge. Please encourage and help your student get to that goal!

  • Here is the link for IXL where students will go to complete weekly assignments. The username should be their 533@portneches, and the password should be their lunch number. If those credentials do not work, please let me know! Once they login they should make sure they are looking under language arts, go to the 7th grade tab on the left side of the screen, and then find the required assignments to complete.

IXL Assignments aredue on Fridays and graded on Mondays. Students must have a Smart Score of at least 80. When I put grades in, I will take their Smart Score and add 10 points to it, and that will be the grade that goes in the gradebook. Students can get up to a 110 on these assignments. The monthly calendar is posted with all the due dates, so students may work ahead on these assignments!

  • Tutorial Information

Tutorials are every morning from 7:45-8:10. If your student needs help please make sure they come to tutorials!

    Class Procedures

Students are expected to come into class, find their assigned seat, and get their materials ready so that they may be able to start working as soon as the bell rings. For class to run smoothly please make sure your students have all their needed materials for each class day.

Each week, students will have an IXL assignment due on Friday. If there is an internet or other technological issue with these assignments, please let me know as soon as possible so I can get your student a printed version.

Throughout the week there may be other assignments that we do not finish in class that will need to be completed at home. If we finish everything in class then there may not be any homework that day.

Every 6 weeks the students will have a book report to complete. This will be based on a book assigned from my class that they are reading independently. These reports are a test grade, so please make sure they are done on time!

Although students are not required to complete a reading log, please encourage your students to read at home! Reading is crucial to language arts, and the more they practice the better they will be!
