Sartin's Scoop

Instructor: HOLLY SARTIN

This will be my 24th year to teach.   Twenty of those years have been teaching 1st grade. I LOVE TEACHING FIRST GRADE! It is one of the most incredible years your child will have in his/her school career. I hope to make your first grade year a fun and exciting one. I also hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling. I want each child in my classroom to be successful. I believe that this can be achieved with a partnership between teacher, parents and students. Thanks for sharing your child with me this school year.

8:00-8:15- Morning Work and Morning Board

8:15-9:00-Phonics

9:00-10:00-PE/Music

10:00-10:50-Math

10:50-11:22-Spelling

11:20-11:50- Lunch

11:45-12:30-Reading

12:30-1:30-SAT

1:35-1:55-Recess

1:50-2:15 – Language

2:15-2:45 – Soc. St. & Science

2:45-3:00 – pack up to go home

Library – 2:15-2:45 – Wednesday

Computer – 2:00-2:45 - Thursday

Reminders

In order to promote reading, your child will begin bringing decodable readers home with some of their phonics homework. Please sit and listen to your child read them! Ask your child questions about the story in the back of the book then sign and return the books in their saxon folders the next day.

Please be sure to check your child's folders every night. Notes that you want to send to me need to be put in the purple homework folder. I will check it first thing in the morning. Please make sure your child's purple and saxon homework folders are returned every day.
